ProCitizen will be a free
online multimedia dashboard and database based on
the Center for Civic Education's Project Citizen program. It
will enable the more than one million middle and high school
students participating in the Project Citizen program to
share their
public policy initiatives online with audiences beyond their immediate
communities. ProCitizen will provide digital tools to facilitate
partnerships
between students from schools in different locations to address similar
public
policy problems and interact with others on these issues regardless of
geographic boundaries.
It will allow
students
to share ideas and information, creating and strengthening a sense of
citizenship, engagement, and common purpose among young people. The
online
database of student public policy projects will grow with each posting
and will
be searchable by topic, location, and other criteria. It will serve as a
valuable tool for evaluators of youth engagement and civics programs as
well
as an inspiration and a useful resource for anyone interested in
exploring
public policy problems and solutions.
As director of
development at the Center
for Civic Education, Dr. Udrys developed the project concept and has been
working to secure funding and support for it. If you are interested in
supporting this project, please contact him using the form here.
